Pane Terms of Service
Last updated: June 14, 2026
These terms govern your use of the hosted Pane service operated at relay.paneui.com and paneui.com ("Pane", "we", "us", "our"). Pane is open-source software you can also self-host. If you self-host Pane, your use of the software is governed by its open-source license (MIT), not by these terms. By using the hosted service, you agree to these terms.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using the hosted Pane service, or by connecting it to an AI client such as Claude, you agree to be bound by these terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use Pane on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms on its behalf.
2. The service
Pane is a round-trip UI channel between software agents and people: an agent creates a "pane" (an interactive web UI served at a URL), a person interacts with it, and their input is returned to the agent as structured data. The service stores the panes, events, records, and attachments you create so they can be served and delivered back to your agent.
Pane is provided to you free of charge, on an "as-available" basis. It is early-stage software and may change.
3. Accounts & eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, to use the hosted service.
- You are responsible for your account, your API keys, your OAuth tokens, and all activity that occurs under them. Keep your credentials secure and do not share them.
- You are responsible for the actions of any agent you authorize to act on your behalf through Pane.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- break any applicable law, or infringe the intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights of anyone;
- create or distribute malware, or content designed to phish, deceive, defraud, or harass;
- upload unlawful content, or content you do not have the right to share;
- probe, scan, overload, or attempt to breach the security or integrity of the service or its infrastructure;
- evade rate limits, quotas, or other technical or usage restrictions;
- resell, sublicense, or operate the hosted service as your own offering. (You are free to self-host the open-source software instead.)
We may suspend or remove content, or suspend or terminate access, that we reasonably believe violates these terms or risks harm to the service or others.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create through Pane — the panes, events, records, and attachments. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, transmit, and display that content solely to operate and provide the service to you. This license ends when the content is deleted, subject to routine backup and the retention windows described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for your content and for having the rights necessary to use it with Pane. Panes render agent-authored HTML inside sandboxed iframes; you are responsible for what you and your agents publish through them.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use your content to train AI models.
6. AI clients & connectors
When you connect Pane to an AI client (for example, as a Claude connector), you authorize that client to send requests to Pane on your behalf using an OAuth token you grant. You are responsible for the instructions you give such a client and for the resulting activity in your account. The client provider's own terms and privacy policy govern the client side of that connection. You can revoke a connector's access at any time, which immediately disables its access without affecting your other credentials.
7. Availability & changes
The service is provided on an "as-available" basis with no guarantee of uptime or continuity. We may add, change, suspend, limit, or discontinue features — or the hosted service as a whole — at any time, and may apply quotas or usage limits. Because Pane is open-source, you can self-host it to keep running it on your own terms.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The hosted service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. You use the service at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pane and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (which, for the free service, is zero) or EUR 100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if continuing to provide the service to you would create a risk to the service or others. On termination, your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including content ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
11. Open-source software
The Pane software is open source and released under the MIT License, available at github.com/aerolalit/paneui. These terms govern only the hosted service we operate; the MIT License governs your use of the software itself, including when you self-host.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules, and excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your place of residence are unaffected.
